Passover 2019 Assateague Island Trip

Thursday, 4/18/19

We spent Passover 2018 at Assateague Island National Seashore, so we decided to do it again this year.  This will be our 5th Passover in an RV since 2014!  We hitched up and headed out:

We arrived last night around 10PM and squeezed into the alley next to the synagogue, Ahavat Shalom in Ocean City, Maryland.  Here’s the view this morning:

Trish was busy cranking out all the food for the seder, made easier by our residential oven modification:

Happy Passover from the RV!

Monday, 4/22

We had two wonderful seders in the RV.  This morning, Trish made Shakshouka:

We will be spending Chol HaMoed on Assateague Island National Seashore, so we have to pull out of the alley next to the synagogue.  It’s tough because this narrow road has drainage ditches on both sides or the road, so I can’t pull out very far before I have to start my turn:

We barely pulled it off:

We parked the RV in the same campsite we reserved last year and hit the beach:

Assateague’s world famous feral ponies were out in force:

Another beautiful day on Assateague!  The weather is much better than last year:

This horse was very friendly:

Winds were too strong to fly, so I just kited the wing for a bit:

I drove over to the trailhead for the Rackliffe House and entered the forest:

Trish and B drove to Berlin and did some antiquing.  Trish bought this autoharp for her school:

Thursday, 4/25/19

We will be spending the last two days of Passover at the synagogue, so today we packed up the RV and drove over to the day use area to say goodbye to Assateague:

We got the RV situated at the synagogue, then unhitched the truck and drove into town to play one of the dozens of miniature golf courses here:

Saturday, 4/27/19

After a nice last two days of Passover, we decided to drive home now to take advantage of the lighter late-night traffic.  Our drive back was an hour shorter than the drive down.

Stay tuned for more RV adventures!
