Shabbos at the foot of Blanca Peak near Alamosa was pleasant.

Time to head to my next destination:

I drove into Alamosa for groceries and laundry.  On the way, I drove past Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, which we visited in 2014:

Laundry done, I repositioned to dispersed camping in Penitente Canyon Recreation Area.  The area is famous for its rock climbing and mountain biking.  The access road was tough but I managed to get myself into a location that will work:

I tried riding my bike up to Lake Como, but the grade became too steep to ride, so I instead explored jeep roads around the RV:

Good morning from Alva, Oklahoma:

Today was a driving day.  I made my way from Oklahoma to New Mexico to Colorado, overnighting outside of Alamosa, Colorado.  See the trip map for today’s drive.

I got off to an early start and made my way from Pennsylvania to Maryland.  I spotted this Cicada at a gas station:

I visited Fort Frederick State Park in Maryland. This fort was built in the 1750s during the French and Indian War, partially in response to the loss of Fort Necessity, a location we visited in the summer of 2018. The fort was also manned during the Revolutionary War and Civil War:

I crossed into Ohio and stopped at Menards to buy parts to improve the mounting of the truck camper to the truck:

Menards is like Home Depot, but with a dairy section:

Despite my best efforts, I was unable to convince Trish and the kids to travel this summer, so I loaded up the truck camper for a solo adventure this summer.
