Summer 2023, Day 3: Perry Victory & IPNM

I drove to Catawba, OH to take the ferry to Put-in-Bay, home of Perry Victory and International Peace National Monument, which preserves the history of the battle of Lake Erie in the war of 1812.

On the passenger ferry:

I brought roller skates to get from the ferry to town, but there was a shuttle bus.

Checking out the NPS memorial:

I learned a good bit about the war of 1812 in the visitor center.

On to the memorial:

I walked the town:

Back to the mainland, passing another ferry:

It was a hot day, but thanks to the mini split A/C, it was very comfortable in the parking lot as I ate lunch:

I then continued on to Grand Rapids, Michigan for Shabbos at Chabad of Western Michigan.

Good Shabbos!  See the trip map for today’s drive.

Tie-Down Repair

Like the driver-side truck camper tie-down that I replaced last year, the passenger-side tie-down seems to be pulling out of the frame of the truck camper.  Time to replace it:

First I cut away the fiberglass skin:

Yeah, that’s not good:

I capped the rotted wood above the aluminum frame rail with aluminum L-channel, added a second L-channel on the outside, and replaced the eye bolt:

It’s much more solid now.
