Even suburbia can be fetching when the early morning sun cuts through the fog:

Our mower’s deck has rusted out, so I found a 2”x8” lumber hanger and welded it onto the mower to return the mower to its former glory.  Or at least hold it together until the end of the season:

In the spirit of RV driving practice, I drove this 26 foot box truck into Manhattan.  Scary!

Today we headed across the river to visit the Lyndhurst estate in Tarrytown.  It was closed to tours, but we did enjoy walking the grounds:

Our next stop was Sunnyside, the home of Washington Irving.  A docent in period dress showed us around:

We were not allowed to photograph in the house, but the tour was very interesting.  The tour ended in the back yard:

My parents are visiting this week, so we went out to lunch at a new local restaurant:

We made our way down to Tappan, New York to visit the DeWint House:

The DeWint house was built in 1700 and was one of many temporary headquarters of George Washington during the war.  It was here that Benedict Arnold’s British accomplice, Major John André, was tried and convicted of being a spy:

We took a load to the local dump today.  This pile was a bit over 9 feet high and weighed about 1700 pounds:
