Summer 2018, Day 37: Short Pine OHV

We discovered this place by accident on our Summer 2017 trip on Day 10. Now that we have motorcycles, this should be a lot more fun:

We had a great time exploring the 2,000 acres of grasslands:

We saw a cave in the distance so we walked over to take a look:

Trish and I walked over to the edge of the OHV area to visit these horses:

The horses came over to see us:

B did some drawing today:

We will be moving on tomorrow.

We had a quiet night dispersed camping out here in the St. Anthony Dunes. The cellular signal here is poor, but up on the roof it’s better:

I bought a fan in Walmart and modified it to replace the broken refrigerator fan:

We drove north, passing several wildfires along the way:

Our first stop of the day was City of Rocks National Reserve:

In the 1840s, travellers on the California Trail signed their names on these rocks in axle grease:

A cute campsite:

We hiked around Bath Rock:

I hiked from Bath Rock to Parking Lot Rock:

We drove to Twin Sisters:

We continued north to overnight on the northern edge of the St. Anthony Dunes:

Not a bad spot:

After dark, I assembled the telescope and we did some astronomy.

I went out on a PPG flight this morning. Flight #123:

There were plenty of mantises around:

We secured the motorcycles and PPG and drove north, the Steens Range on our left:

Onward to Idaho:

We’re overnighting at the Walmart of Burley, Idaho. The refrigerator fan is making a good bit of noise, so I pulled it out to replace it:

We fired up the air conditioners, it’s hot here!
