Today B went in for her school interview and placement exams. We did homeschool in the mid-80s that have become standard for our desert southwest winters. Here’s the view as M and I walked to synagogue this afternoon:
Day 928: Phoenix to Scottsdale
Shabbos in Phoenix was warm and busy. We checked out three different synagogues and made some new friends.
Today I stayed home with the kids and did homeschool while Trish did the laundry. After she got back, we drove around the neighborhood to get a feel for where we might be moving to come the fall.
Towards sunset, we drove the fifteen minutes to relocate to the Scottsdale driveway of our friends Barak and Shoshana:
Day 926: Ak-Chin to Phoenix
I got up early this morning in hopes of flying. The low pressure has yet to work itself out of the area, but I was treated to an amazing pre-sunrise:

We hitched up the RV, said goodbye to our fellow pilots, and drove north to Phoenix where we will be spending Shabbos in this synagogue parking lot, visiting what may be our future neighborhood:

Good Shabbos from Phoenix, Arizona! See the trip map for today’s drive and our current location.
Day 925: Parawaiting at Ak-Chin
The low pressure front that made last night’s flying unpleasant moved in today in earnest, blowing too hard to fly. After homeschool, M built a Lego rubber band gun:

Despite bumpy conditions, a tandem PPG launched. Watching the wing jerk around up there, I was glad I decided not to fly:

We were treated to a nice sunset:

Day 924: Flying Ak-Chin
This morning I launched flight #94 from near the Ak-Chin airport. I flew out over the adjacent farm land:

The goal was to fly over the massive Asarco Sacaton pit mine near Casa Grande, but the air was pretty bumpy, so I turned around and came back. I flew over our camping area before landing:

Landing:

In addition to doing homeschool, B drew this butterfly:

I sure hope Trish sells some of these soon, we’re running out of room:

This afternoon I went for a perfectly dull bike ride, riding 10 miles out and back on a straight and flat road. I think total elevation gain was about 150 feet:
As I returned to the RV, fellow PPG pilot Jay was launching from his yard, which is adjacent to our camping area:

I launched flight #95, again hoping to get to the pit mine but forced to turn back due to bumpy conditions:
