This morning, flight 126, I flew inland to fly low and slow through a wash:

M and I explored the Palm Wash and made a sketchy exit through Robo Notch:

Time to fly again!

Flight 127:

Dawn at Salton Sea:

Winds have finally died down enough to fly, so I launched flight 124:

After the morning flight, M and I drove the motorcycles up Tectonic George to the Calcite Mine:

We then explored Palm Slot, which we last visited in 2014:

My the time we returned to the RV, it was time to fly again:

I launched flight 125:

M and I had a nice Shabbos with the T family in Scottsdale. It was great to catch up!
Last night we drove west, overnighting just east of Quartzsite, Arizona. This morning was cool and clear:

We drove in to Quartzite, RV capital of the world. We’ve visited Quartzsite many times. Every winter something like 100,000 RVs winter here in the BLM’s Long Term Vehicle Area. This time we just stopped in briefly, but most of the vendors left a week or two ago:

RVs for sale:

We continued on to Salton Sea, home of the annual Salton City and Glamis Fly-In, which I last flew in 2016. Before driving down to the shore, we dumped or sewer tanks and filled the fresh water tank:

Even though the fly-in doesn’t start until Wednesday, there are already plenty of pilots here, visiting from all over the world:

Unfortunately, by the time we were unpacked, a storm front was moving in making flying too dangerous. We drove the motorcycles into nearby Ocotillo Wells State Vehicular Recreation Area:

I went out on a PPG flight this morning. Flight #123:

This video has yesterday’s flights as well as today’s flight:
There were plenty of mantises around:

We secured the motorcycles and PPG and drove north, the Steens Range on our left:

Onward to Idaho:

We’re overnighting at the Walmart of Burley, Idaho. The refrigerator fan is making a good bit of noise, so I pulled it out to replace it:

We fired up the air conditioners, it’s hot here!
