This morning was dead calm, and overnight my landing zone was parked in by off-roaders coming for the big weekend, so a launch was risky. We decided to pack up and drive north to Las Vegas where Trish and B will be flying in for a weekend with my parents.
On the way to Vegas we stopped in Boulder City at the information center for Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument:

I ran out of gas a few miles from home so I took M’s motorcycle to the RV, filled it up, drove back, siphoned gas into my motorcycle, and then we drove back to the RV. I launched flight 132:

It’s too windy to fly today. I went for a morning walk to the Glamis “stores”:
That RV is all alone, but by Friday there will be 200,000 people here with their off-road vehicles:
I took the motorcycle out and explored until I ran into the edge of the Chocolate Mountain Aerial Gunnery Range:

We drove up to the gas station where we dumped and filled. I went for a run in the rain, dodging flash flooding:
We showered, dumped, and filled, then drove to the Glamis Sand Dunes, the largest dune field in North America:
We picked a camping location shortly before sunset:
