Day 495: In-Town Day

Today, we came in to Las Vegas to visit my parents and tour the local day school, as well as do laundry, fill up our 45 gallon portable water bladder, buy some propane, and restock our refrigerator. We also picked up a couple packages that were waiting for us.

Trish drove in with the kids, and I biked in from Jean Lake. The headwinds made for slow going:

We filled up the truck on the way out of town with what might be the cheapest diesel we’ve seen on the trip so far:

Day 494: The Lake is Dry Again

Shabbos was comparatively quiet, as the wet lake bed kept away most of the weekend warriors. By the afternoon, it had dried out enough that we could go for a walk.

This morning, B and I remounted her door so it swings into her room, making it easier to get through the door I added that goes to the bathroom. It’s actually a class of their home school schedule called “RV fixin’ with Tattie”:

This afternoon, local PPGer Tuan and his wife showed up for some flying. He packed it in after one flight due to turbulence, not surprising as we just finished up a couple days of windy weather:

Not much else to report, just a solid daily homeschooling schedule. We’re really enjoying not moving every few days.

Day 491: Saving the Best for Last

We had another nice day out on Jean Lake.  The kids got a good bit of cycling in today after homeschool, and I continued searching for the perfect RV insurance.  We had an amazing sunset this evening:

Micha came out and we tested his new $100 generator, so now he can be completely off the grid.  We’re expecting a bit of rain and quite a bit of wind tomorrow.

Day 490: Homeschool, Smoking Vehicles, and Helicopters

It’s another beautiful day here on Jean Lake:

Part of homeschool today was practicing camera control manipulation outdoors.  The kids are using their cameras in “M” mode, manually adjusting ISO, shutter speed, and aperture to get the correct exposure:

Next up was an introduction to Stencyl:

Meanwhile, in the distance, something was going on involving trucks with colored smoke and a circling helicopter, seen here on the left:

In Writing, B completed the cover for her short story, which was written on circular sheets of paper:
